Three weeks before Erin and Mike were to welcome home their 1st little one, Michael Jr., Erin and I discussed a game plan for setting up a newborn photo session. Right away, Erin knew she didn't want typical newborn photos with props and awkward poses. She wanted the photos to look natural and as candid as possible, just as if someone was documenting a day in their life.
Another important factor was that she wanted both Mike's and her parents to be a part of the photo session as well. That was of course no problem since new grandparents are practically bursting with happiness and joy, so photographing them is a pleasure.
Although no props were used in this shoot, Erin and Mike did have one request and that was to include two photographs that were special to them. The first photo was of Erin's mother holding Erin as a baby and the other was of Mike and his dad posed next to a wooden train set that a family friend had made special for him. The train now has a new home in Michael Jr.s room.
What I love about these photos is that it tells the story of how a family's love grows bigger when blessed with the arrival of new baby.
