My heart went out to Megan, who had been planning and preparing for her maternity session for months. California was experiencing a heat wave. It was a little after 7:00 p.m. and still 107 degrees outside in Bakersfield where our shoot was scheduled to take place. I was about to take this sweet, expectant mother of twins outside in the Bakersfield heat... was I crazy?
As we headed towards our destination located near a gorgeous shaded path, over looking the Kern River, I couldn't help but think I should of suggested a water park or an ice rink... anything but an outdoor location during one of the hottest days we've had all summer.
Not too long after arriving at our location did I realize that I was photographing Team Awesome, and despite the insanely high temperature Megan, Pete, and Blake didn't seem to mind. They were unbelievable troopers, and decided not to let a little thing like 100-degree heat ruin their special day. While I photographed the beaming mom-to-be, Pete and Blake joked back and forth and talked about how excited they were to welcome the twins. It was such a happy moment.
